Learning Commons
Welcome To The Learning Commons!

Meet our Media and Educational Technology Instructor (METI)...Ms. Penn

Jessica Penn pennj@fultonschools.org
Hello! I am Abbotts Hill’s new METI for the 2025-2026 school year. I have taught first grade here for the past 3 years and have taught for a total of 10 years. I have a passion for reading and want to inspire a love of reading in all Pre-K through fifth grade students. I enjoy integrating literature and technology with engaging lessons that align with content being taught in the classrooms.
When I’m not at the Learning commons, I can be found with my rescue dog named Thellman! I also enjoy spending time with friends and family, doing something crafty, attending Abbotts Hill events, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, and of course, reading!

Follett Destiny Discover
All Fulton County schools use Follett’s Destiny Library Manager to maintain their library's collection. Patrons access the collection using Destiny Discover, a graphics based circulation software that allows them to search for print and digital content. Whether it’s a student or teacher looking for leisure reading/entertainment, materials to support homework or lesson planning, Destiny Discover will help them find what they’re looking for.
Destiny Discover can be accessed by students through Classlink. Look for Destiny Discover on the e-Library tab. This is what it looks like:

Want to view our collection? Click the Destiny Icon within the e-library on Classlink. This is what it looks like:

WE LOVE OUR VOLUNTEERS!
Volunteers are always needed since the Learning Commons is such a busy place! Volunteers shelve books, create displays, copy flyers, help set-up bulletin boards, cover books with laminate, and assist children in locating resources by using the online catalog. In order to volunteer, you must first complete the Fulton County Volunteer Process by clicking here.
Please email our incredible Learning Commons volunteer coordinator, Meghan Vakulskas, at Meghant76@gmail.com to sign up and ask any questions. We hope to see you soon!
